no journal, ,

Since the solvent extraction efficiency depends on the performance of extractants, the development of high ability extractants has been desired. In this study, a novel organophosphorus extractant having a tridentate structure (DOAOBPA) was synthesized, and its extraction performance was evaluated by investigating the extraction of 56 metal ions. As a result, DOAOBPA was extremely higher than that of conventional extractants for all metal ions tested in this study. In addition, DOAOBPA can be selective separation of Pb from divalent metal ions due to the tridentate structure of DOAOBPA.

Effect of functional groups in DGAA-type extractants on extraction performance

no journal, ,

Efficiency of solvent extraction depends on the extractant. Therefore, a superior extractant is vital to effective extraction and separation by solvent extraction. Recently, we developed a N,N-dioctyldiglycolamic acid (DODGAA) with an amide group and a carboxy group connected by an ether chain. DODGAA has a simple molecular structure, but can show the excellent extraction performance for various metal ions. In this study, we investigated the effect of each functional group in the diglycolamic acid (DGAA)-type extractant on the extraction performance. To evaluate the effect of amide group, ether chain, and acid group, we synthesized some DODGAA analogous extractants, and compared the extraction properties between the DODGAA and the analogous extractants.
